At FIH Champions Challenge 1 2011, Johannesburg, South Africa
India bt Poland 7-0
Goal Scored - Yuvraj Walmiki (IND) 18', Shivendra Singh (IND) 24' and 33', SV Sunil (IND) 43', Birendra Lakra (IND) 53', Tushar Khandker (IND) 55' and 70'
I would say today Poland played poorly rather than we played well ... Poland played with lack of enthusiasm, they didn't intercept Indian passing and defended poorly ... They failed to take couple of chances ... Other hand we had numerous chances, our forward line missed too many, mainly Yuvraj ... But today we were lucky to play against Polish team otherwise this scoreline wasn't the same.
As usual our defending was poor but I surprised by Polish side ... Generally they play decent hockey but here they r looking mess, who r not doing single basic thing correctly ... May be Polish team is here with their youngsters and giving chance to them before Olympics qualifier but avoid giving any their strategy which they will use in qualifier.
With this big win we topped the group as Belgium managed only 2-1 victory against South Africa ... In quarters we r going to face our recent nemesis young Malaysian side, who r struggling in this tournament.
