In the first game Saina opened 5-2 lead from 1-2 and then she kept this lead most of the game ... Carolina tried fight back from 14-19 to reduce it to 17-19 ... Saina kept her cool and converted 2nd game point for winning it ... In the second game from 1-3 Saina won next 8 points to lead 9-3 ... After taking control Saina kept increasing lead and completed victory in 43 minutes.

But Lee and Sania had contrasting results in their respective matches ... Sania-Cara started well and won the first set comfortably ... In the second set Sania-Cara had opportunity finish this match in two sets ... They had 6 match points in 10th game which they failed to convert ... After that they had few more match points in tie-break but again failed to convert ... After winning the second set Pavlyuchenkova-Safarova looks more confident and that reflected in their game ... Pavlyuchenkova-Safarova broke Saina-Cara in 10th game for completing upset win.

Lee-Radek need to dig deep before winning their match for entering into the third round ... Lee-Radek struggled from start against Gonzalez-Lipsky ... Gonzalez-Lipsky won the first set with a single break but Lee-Radek responded well and won next set with double break ... Gonzalez-Lipsky again won the third set to take 2-1 sets lead ... When needed Lee-Radek raised their game and won the fourth set with a single break advantage ... In the fifth set both pairs tried their best and Lee-Radek prevailed winning this set after long 20 games ... Really good win for Lee-Radek.

In the first game both players were neck to neck through out the game though Saina take 7-4 and then 14-10 lead but both time Shixian caught her ... From 16-17 Saina won next 3 points to lead 19-17 and she kept this couple of points advantage to convert 2nd game point for winning the game ... In the second game from 8-6 Saina take 12-7 lead ... At that time Saina was cruising for straight games win but suddenly unforced errors started to happen and Shixian found her range ... From 13-15 Shixian won next 7 points to lead 20-15 and in that Saina take medical break for blister at 16-15 ... Shixian converted 2nd game point to take this match into the decider ... Both players were neck to neck till 13-all ... From 15-13 Saina won ext 4 points and opened 19-14 lead ... And she won last two points for excellent win in 76 minutes.

In the final Saina is facing Spanish giant-killer Carolina Marin.

In the first set Sania-Cara were break down at 1-2 but after that they won next 5 games in that breaking Hingis-Zvonareva thrice to win the set ... They kept momentum in the second set for winning the match.

Divij-Lu started with dominating their opponents and won the first 2 sets comfortably ... But from the third set Divij-Lu were leading 4-2 but they lost the plot from here ... Delgado-Muller started to combine well and they raised their game on crucial juncture to win this set in tie-break ... They won the fourth set with a single break and take match into the decider ... Delgado-Muller had a momentum with them and this time they dominated from start ... Delgado-Muller completed comeback victory with dominating the final set.

Purav-Marcelo fail to raise their game against seeded experienced opponents and lose their match in straight sets.

Mixed doubles draw is out and interestingly Divij is first time playing in mixed doubles ... He is partnering top-40 and last year's doubles semi-finalist Japanese Shuko Aoyama and they r playing against Vania King and Tomasz Bednarek .. Our all other three pairs r seeded and having bye in the first round ... Sania is in top draw and Rohan with Lee r in the bottom draw.

Indians outplay Koreans with their skillful and attacking hockey in this match to show who is the boss in Asia ... Importantly our defense played with discipline in this match ... Indians take early lead when SV Sunil gave pin point pass to Akashdeep in the D after keeping Korean defense standing with his pace ... We kept one goal advantage till half-time due to Sreejesh'd excellent goal keeping ... Indian extended their lead when Rupinder earned penalty stroke on penalty corner and converted it ... Then Gurbaj was sit outside for 10 mins due to dangerous tackling ... At that time Koreans tried hard and were putting extra pressure on Indians ... Indians responded well with solid defending ... Indians take advantage and scored goal on counter-attack through Akashdeep.

Though this time we end up on 9th position, one place below from last world cup, it is heartening to see improvement on overall game ... Our coach Terry Walsh definitely improve our game ... We r defending well, our tackling is improving and looking less clumsy, ball release is improving, unnecessary hitting crosses in D is improving though we need improvement in finishers ... Also improvement in defending inside D but still we r conceding more penalty corners ... Overall discipline is coming in our players game ... Thanks to Walsh.

At 4-5 Divij-Hanley saved a set point but got broken in 12th game to lose this set ... In match tie-break Divij-Hanley take early 4-2 lead but lost next 5 points to down 4-7 ... Divij-Hanley won next 5 points and had 2 match points at 9-7 ... They failed to convert both and lose match tie-break in extra points ... So again Divij fail to break his first round loss jinx with different partners.
