At the World Youth Chess Championship 2011, Caldas Novas, Brazil
India won a gold, a silver and three bronze medals to finish third behind Russia (three golds and four silver) and Kazakhstan (two gold and a bronze) in the World Youth chess championship at Caldas Novas, Brazil.
Karthikeyan became the u-12 world champion on the basis of his superior tie-break score after being tied at 7.5 points with Hungry's Benjamin Gledura.
Ram Aravind claimed the silver in the u-8 section ... The Indian bronze medal winners were, Debashis Das in u-18, V.S. Rathanvel in u-10 and Saina Salonika u-8 girls.
