At the FIDE World Chess Championship 2013, Chennai, India (November 9th to 28th, 2013)

Game One
GM Magnus Carlsen (NOR,2870) ½-½ GM Viswanathan Anand (IND,2775) (½-½)

The FIDE World Chess Championship match between current champion Viswanathan Anand and his challenger world #1 Magnus Carlsen is started in the the Hyatt Regency, Chennai, India ... The match is over twelve classic games, with time controls of 120 minutes for the first 40 moves, 60 minutes for the next 20 moves and then 15 minutes for the rest of the game, with an increment of 30 seconds per move starting from move 61.

In the first match Carlsen started with black ... Carlsen tried to surprise Anand with his innovative opening ... He chose an offbeat double fianchetto to face Anand’s Gruenfeld ... But Anand handled this opening confidently and hold his position on the board ... Carlsen offered draw after 16 moves which Anand accepted ... Moral victory for Anand but it is too early to speculate.
