At 2010 Asian Games, Guangzhou, China

What a day for India ... We won 3 Gold, a Silver and 5 Bronze medals ... India moved to 8th position with 5 Gold, 11 Silver and 17 Bronze medals.

On first day of track and field India got a flying start wining 2 Golds and 1 Silver in long distance ... In Women's 3000m Steeplechase Sudha Singh gave unexpected result to won Gold medal ... She managed to hold Chinese challenge in the end to won it ... Before that Preeja Sreedharan showed her dominance in 10,000 mtrs ... She became first Indian athelete run below 32 mins ... Kavita Raut also run amazingly to came a second behind one second ... So Gold and Silver for Indians in Womens's 10,000M.

So at last our shooters managed to win Gold medal ... In Men's Double Trap Ronjan Sodhi won Gold and Indian team managed to win Bronze.

In Archery recurve women team event in dramatic event Indian women declared winner against Chinese Taipei team in Bronze medal match, 218-217 ... This is our first women archery medal in Asian games ... In semis India played very close match against WR #1 South Korean team ... After completion of 24 shots both teams were locked at 221-all ... But in 3 extra shots Korean women scored 28 pts and Indians managed only 26 ... Before this Indian women defeated North Korean 214-202 in quarters and defeated Vietnam team 225-152.

In tennis womens singles semis Sania lost in 3sets against 3rd seed Uzbek Akgul Amanmuradova, 76(7) 36 46 ... So with that Sania guarnteed with Bronze medal ... Somdev moved in to mens singles semis with comfortable win over Chinese player Ze Zhang 64 64 ... Karan gave tough fight to top-seed Denis Istomin before losing 26 64 57 ... In semis Somdev is facing Japanese 4th seed Tatsuma Ito ... In mixed doubles Sania Mirza and Vishnu Vardhan scored another hard fought victory over top seed Thai pair Tamarine Tanasugarn and Sanchai Ratiwatana in STB to moved into the fnal, 63 67(3) 10-5 ... In the final they r facing second seed Chinese Taipei pair of Yung Jan Chan and Tsung Hua Yng ... In mens doubles Sanam and Somdev scored straight sets vitory over Korean pair Cho-Soong and H-Kim 63 75 to moved into the final ... In final they r having tough challenge of local pair of 2nd seed Zhe Li and Maoxin Gong.

In boxing Preeti Beniwal became first Indian woman to won bout in women boxing ... She defeated Mongolian Suvd Erdene Oyungerel 8-2 in Women's 57-60kg ... In Men's 60kg young Vikas Krishan scored another impressive win over experienced Korean Chol Song Kim 4-2 to moved into semis ... In semis he is facing another young boxer from Uzbek's Hurshid Tojibaev ... In Super Heavyweight Men's 91kg Manpreet Singh had tough match against local Chinese boxer Maimaiti Zaifula ... He won this close quarter final 6-4 and in semis he will face Tajikistan Jakhon Qurbonov, who won his one sideded quarter-final against Turkmenistan boxer (referee stopped bout when he was 24-2 leading in first round).

Indian men's hockey team defeated Japan in close match, 3-2, with help from 2 goals from Sandeep Singh ... This win helped them to qualify for semi-final with topping the group B ... India will face Malaysia in first semi-final and Pakistan will face South Korea in other semi-final.

Indian men chess tem lost their fourth round match against Chinese team 1.5-2.5 ... GM Gopal G N lost against GM Ni Hua ... Indian women team won their fourth round match against Vietnamese team 1.5-2.5 ... Tania Sachdev scored important win against Pham Le Thao Nguyen.

In squash team event in pool stage India started with comfortable win over Qatar 3-0.

In disappointing result Indian volleyball men team lost easily against Thailand 0-3, 20-25 23-25 22-25, in quarter-final ... Indian women team again easily lost in group stage aginst Kazakhstan 0-3, 18-25 9-25 10-25.
