Asian Games News
At 2010 Asian Games, Guangzhou, China

India having 11 medals, 1 Gold, 4 Silver and 6 Bronze.

Virdhawal Khade created history winning first swimming medal in 24 yrs ... In 50m Butterfly he won Bronze medal with timing 24.31 ... In the morning he won heat with timing 24.56, which was 5th best in final qualifiers ... So after his unsuccessful bid in yesterday's 50m Freestyle where he missed Bronze by 0.03 sec he managed to win his first big medal.

Another creditable performance by Ashish Kumar in Men's Floor Final to won Bronze ... This is our FIRST medal in gymanastic ... He had very tough challenge from other top Asian gymnasts, still he produced creditable performance to upset other Chinese, Korean and Japanese opponents to won Bronze ... Interestingly in this event they gave 2 Gold medals as 2 gymnasts points tally were same and a Bronze.

Only Harika managed to win Bronze medal in chess, in last round Harika needed victory to won Bronze medal ... In the final round with blacks she defeated Indonesian player Sukandar Irine Kharisma and grabbed Bronze ... Tania Sachdev finished on 6th with 5.5 pts ... In mens event Sasi disappointed as he lost both matches to finished on 9th position with 5.5 pts, Surya Shekhar Ganguly finished on 5th with 6 pts.

In Wushu, Bimoljit Singh Mayanglambam lost in semis against Iranian Mohsen Mohammadseifi ... But Sandhyarani Devi Wangkhem created history reaching in the final beating Laos player Paloy Barckkham in semis ... In the final Sandhyarani is facing Iranian Wushu player Khadijeh Azadpour.

In badminton Aditi Mutatkar moved into R16 with straight games victory over Srilankan player but next she is facing 4th seed Japanese Eriko Hirose ... In womens doubles Jwala and Ashwini moved into R16 due to retirement of Thai pair, our pair won first game 21-13 ... Next they r facing 2nd seed Chinese pair.

In boxing 52kg category Suranjoy Mayengbam started with a 7:2 win over Thai boxer Chatchai Butdee to reached into R16.

In volleyball India scored comfortable much needed win after their one-sided loss against South Korean team ... We scored win over Vietnam 3-0, 25-20 25-16 25-23.

In table tennis Sharath Kamal and Subhajit moved into R16.

In hockey we faced poor loss against Japanese team 3-0.

In football round of 16 Japan outplayed us to scored comfortable 5-0 win but still creditable performance by our young team.
