Many were expecting lot more goals considering reduced number of players (9) on the field, wider goal cage in place and 30 minutes match time but that didnot happen ... Indian women team certainly goes in to the record book as the first team ever to win the Hockey 9s international.
Indian women scored a goal on long corner through Ritu Rani ... Malaysian scored field goal immediately after half-time ... Indians immediately responded before scoring another goal late in the match.
In men's match Black sticks take control from the start they scored 2 goals in 5th and 6 mins ... Then increased lead to 3-0 in 10th mis through penalty corner but Indians responded immediately through Danish Mujtaba on log corner ... But Black sticks again increased lead to 3 goals as they converted penalty corner to lead 4-1 at half-time and Indians were heading for the big defeat ... In the second half Indians played with 8 players as Raghunath received yellow card at end of the first-half ... Still we managed to score goal through penalty corner ... Ravi Pal Singh scored another goal for Indians in 25th min to reduced margin to one goal but Stephen Jennes again increased lead to two after scoring immediate goal within few seconds ... Black sticks scored another goal in last seconds to complete good victory in entertaining match.
