After first day India has two medals from shooting; one gold and one bronze.

Jitu Rai give India its first gold medal from the 17th Asian Games on first day ... In see-saw final round which having tough field, in that in beginning Jitu jumped to fourth and again dropped to sixth before making an amazing recovery to clinch the gold medal ... Jitu qualified for final on 7th position with 559 pts but Om Prakash and Omkar Singh failed to qualify for the final round finishing 10th (555 pts) and 16th (551 pts) respectively ... Three-time Olympic champion and local favorite Jin Jongoh qualified for the final on top position but in the final he eliminated 2nd to finish on 7th position ... The Indian team comprising of Jitu Rai, Om and Omkar finished fourth and missed the team bronze by five points.

Before Jitu's Gold medal Shweta Chaudhry gives India its first medal from 17th Asian Games ... She won bronze in the Women 10m Air Pistol Finals and before that she qualified for the final with 383 pts ... Other hand Indians favorites Heena Sidhu and Malaika Goel failed to make it to the finals ... Heena finished on 13th with 378 pts and Malaika finished on 24th with 373 pts ... In team event our team ended on 5th position.

In badminton women's round of 16, India convincingly defeats Macau-China for entering into the quarters ... In the quarters our girls are facing Thailand ... But our men's team lose their match in R16 against host South Korea.

Comfortable winning start for Indian men's in basketball but their real test will be started from next matches.

In handball our both teams lose their respective group matches.

In Judo, Kalpana Devi Thoudam lose Bronze medal match against Kazak's Judoka Lenariya Mingazova.

In rowing our only Lightweight Women's Quadruple Sculls team fail to qualify for next round.

In Squash singles, Saurav start with comfortable win but Harinder Pal lose his match easily against Kuwaiti ... In women's singles Dipika and Joshna r stretched by unknown players.

Expected winning start for Indian women tennis team against Oman.

Our volleyball men's team struggle in their win over Hong Kong and host South Korean women team prove too strong for our women.

Disappointing first day at Weightlifting for our three lifters.

Narender Grewal and Yamnam Sanathoi Devi are in the quarters of their respective Wushu weight categories.

In Equestrian Dressage team event India finishes on 6th position but our all four riders qualify for Individual event.

In the evening Indian women play quarter final against 4th seed Thailand and score upset win in tight match ... Saina and PV Sindhu scored upset win over their higher ranked opponents Ratchanok and Porntip in contrasting style to give India 2-0 lead but Thai girls fought back for winning third single and first doubles rubber ... In the final rubber Ashwini paired with Sindhu and they scored upset win over Thai pair in straight games for upset win.
