Saina Nehwal won the Bronze medal when Xin Wang retired from their match due to knee injury after winning the first game ... Saina take early 3-0 lead but after that Xin Wang take control of the game ... Xin was playing excellent game and was putting pressure on Saina ... Saina was under pressure and made numerous lead ... Xin take hefty lead but at the same time her struggle with dodgy knee also started ... Saina take advantage of it and fought back in the match ... Xin collapsed on the court with pain holding her knee when she was leading 20-18 ... After taping her knee match started and Xin immediately won next point to win the first game ... The second game started but Xin again collapsed on the court after winning 1st point and decided to retire from the match ... Though Saina didn't want such a win but in end she was fittest and standing on the court ... I feel deserving bronze medal for Saina.

In Light Flyweight category Devendro Singh Laishram created huge upset beating Mongolian boxer Serdamba Purevdorj, who was silver medalist from Beijing Olympics and former world champion ... Devendro Singh played with his usual aggressive style and surprised Purevdorj with that ... Devendro Singh won the first round 4-3 ... In the second round Devendro Singh kept playing aggressively though Purevdorj tried to defend ... This round again won by Devendro Singh 4-2 ... In the final round Purevdorj started aggressively and both played excellent round ... Devendro hit some crucial punches and Purevdorj received standing count ... In last stage of the round Purevdorj attacked Devendro and scored points but that was very late ... Devendro won this round 8-6 ... In quarter final he is facing Irish boxer Paddy Barnes.

Sudha Singh finished lowly 13 in the steeplechase heat.

In Women's Trap, Shagun Chowdhary disappointed us with her performance ... She started well hitting 23 targets from first 25 shots but had horrible second 25 shots where she hit only 17 targets and in the final 25 shots also she managed to hit 21 ... Shagun finished on 20th from 22 shooters.

In Men's Lightweight Double Sculls Final D, our rowers Sandeep Kumar and Manjeet Singh won the race and finished on 19th position in 20 pairs.

Top-seed Belarus pair had a one set advantage when match began today ... Sania and Lee were serving well and holding comfortably ... Our pair had 4 break points on Azarenka and Mirnyi service games but failed to convert it ... Which cost them the match ... In tie-break our pair were up with mini-break 2-0 but Belarus pair immediately broke back to make it 2-1 ... Belarus pair take mini-break to lead 2-4 but our pair take mini-break back at 3-5 and made it 4-5 ... But Belarus pair again take crucial mini-break on 11 points to lead 5-6 and converted that match point to complete the victory ... So with that heartbroken end for Lee and Sania's quest for mixed doubles medal ... Also that means our greatest doubles pair Lee and Mahesh failed to win Olympics doubles medal in their entire career.

In Men's 20km Race Walk, K. Irfan performed well above expectation and finished on 10th position after creating national record ... He was only 1 minute 35 seconds behind gold medalist ... Our other walkers finished on 33rd and 43rd positions.

Krishna Poonia managed to throw 4 discuss over 60 mtrs ... Her 5th throw was the best for her, 63.62 mtrs ... She finished on 7th position in the final standing ... I would say decent performance by Krishna Poonia.

In Light Welterweight category local boxer Thomas Stalker proved strong for Manoj Kumar ... Thomas dominated first 2 rounds to win 7-4 and 9-5 then in the third Manoj Kumar tried hard and won it but deficit was too much in the end.
