Vijay Kumar won the SILVER in Men's 25m Rapid Fire Pistol ... He kept his nerve in new format final in Men's 25m Rapid Fire Pistol ... As per new format, all 6 finalist start from the scratch and elimination begins after 4th serirs of 5 shots ... Vijay Kumar scored 5, 4, 4 and 3 points (16 pts) in first 4 rounds and avoided first elimination with tied for 2nd position with Chinese Feng Ding ... For next two elimination also these two shooters remained tied for 2nd with another 4 and 4 points ... Next elimination for bronze medal Feng managed 3 accurate shots from 5 shots and Vijay Kumar kept his nerve to scored 4 points and eliminated Feng and guaranteed Silver ... At that time Cuban shooter Leuris Pupo was on 30 and Vijay Kumar on 28 ... In the last 5 shots Pupo scored 4 accurate hits and won the Gold with new Olympics record and equaling world record and Vijay Kumar managed only 2 accurate shots from final 5 shots to win bronze ... Very creditable shooting by Vijay Kumar to win Silver under pressure in Olympics.

Before this in qualification Vijay Kumar shot another excellent 292 pts in the second round and qualify for the final on 4th position.

Yihan Wang proved too strong for Saina ... She defeated Saina in 39 minutes losing only 26 points ... After losing the first game Saina fought well in the second ... She was leading 11-10 but after falling behind she failed to raise game and lost match ... Saina will play against WR #2 Xin Wang for Bronze medal match.

In athletics disappointed start for India ... Om Prakash Singh and Mayookha Johny failed to produce their best throw and jump respectively and ended well below in the standing ... Om Prakash finished on T18 position in 40 throwers and Mayookha Johny finished on 24th position on 36 jumpers.

Our wild-card swimmer Gagan Ullalmath finished last in his heat ... He was last in all 32 swimmers and was only swimmer, who take more than 15:50 mins to complete.

Sawarn Singh finished 4th in 'Final C' so overall 16th place in 33 rowers in single sculls ... Creditable performance in his first Olympics.

In Men's 50m Rifle Prone, Joydeep Karmakar finished on 4th position and missed bronze medal by 2 points ... Joydeep played play-off for 5 positions as 9 shooters were shot 595 ... Joydeep qualified for the final and shot third best round but his third place Slovenia shooter Rajmond Debevec scored 105 pts to won bronze ... Gagan managed only 593 pts in the qualification to finish on 18th in the standing.

Our poor run in the hockey continued ... Today Germany thrashed us 5-2 ... Florian Fuchs scored hat-trick for Germany ... At half-time Germany were leading 4-1 as Indian defense struggled against Germany.

In controversial bout AIBA changed decision giving by judges in favor of American boxer in Welterweight category ... Vikas started cautiously against Errol Spence but won the first round 4-2 ... In the second round Errol Spence was aggressive and managed to win it 6-5 ... Vikas was still leading by 1 point ... In the last round Errol Spence was very aggressive but Vikas was defending well attack from Spence ... In some shocking calculation judges awarded this round in favor of Vikas 4-3 and declared winner 13-11 ... But after few hours AIBA changed result in favor of Errol Spence giving 4 extra points for the final round ... This is sad as how AIBA favors big nation like USA, same wrong decision was giving in Sumit Sangwan but at that time AIBA turned down our appeal.

In Women's Discus Throw, Krishna Poonia second throw was 63.54 mtrs., which was enough to secure her place in the final ... Seema Antil managed throw 61.91 mtrs but that was not enough for securing place in the final ... She missed the final by only 55 centi-meters ... For getting into medal contention Krishna Poonia need minimum throw around/ above 65 meters.
