At $385K Campbell's HoF championship, Newport, USA

Kash and Bops r in Quarters of Newport!!!

[R2] (Q) Rohan Bopanna (IND,374) bt (1) Mardy Fish (USA,41) 76(6) 75
[R2] (WC) Prakash Amritraj (IND, 305) bt Jesse Levine (USA,124) 75 63

[QF] (Q) Rohan Bopanna (IND,374) vs (WC) Prakash Amritraj (IND, 305)

Rohan Bopanna - “I was not concerned about what ranking he was. I just went out there and played my game. I was aggressive and kept it simple. Every time you achieve something new (getting to a quarterfinal) it is exciting, and something you cherish. I cannot cherish it for too long, for I have to play again tomorrow.”

Prakash Amritraj - “I like to serve and volley, and doubles is the best practice for that... The person who puts more pressure on the opponent wins the match. I tried to be aggressive and come to net.”

Superb superb performance from Kash and Bops ... Kash win was also valuable as he was defending last year's QF appearance points ... Good to see he kept mental edge over Levine for repeating Izmir challenger result ... Congrats Kash.

Bops showed world how good grass court player he is ... He is definetly top-25 grass court player ... But sadly now only 3/4 grass court events remaining on the tour ... And Wimbledon also favouring more to back court players ... Anyway very big win in Bops career against top seed and top-40 player ... Mardy Fish had poor results at Newport but that doesn't reduce any value of this win ... Great job Bops for his first ATP quarter-final.

Bops hit 14 aces in the match but importantly some of them were on crucial time ... Bops got 4 bps and he converted 3, other hand Fish got 9 bps chances and converted only 2 ... In match Bops won 81 pts and Fish won 78 pts

So after exactly 10 yrs (in 1998 Leander won title at Newport) we r going to see Indian player in the semis of ATP tournament ... What a day for Indian tennis and fans like us ... :-)

So today in quarters both r playing to prove who r India's No. 1 grass court player, may best man win ... Good luck guys!!!
