Commonwealth Games 2010
At XIX Commonwealth Games 2010, New Delhi

On last day India won 2 Gold, 1 Silver and 2 Bronze medals to finish their medal tally for CWG 2010 to 38 Gold, 27 Silver and 36 Bronze medals.

Due to 2 Gold medals India finished Second behind Australia in final standing, pushing England to thrid place ... This is India's best finish in Commonwealth Games and first time Indian contingent won total more than 100 medals in this event ... Well done guys.

In last event of the day Saina scored exciting comeback win over her 2nd seed Malaysian opponent to secure Gold medal ... After losing first game she was down 20-21 ... She saved that Gold medal point and then won next 3 points to make it 1 game all ... In decider she take control from the start to win Gold medal, 19-21 23-21 21-13 ... Saina's Gold medal secured our 2nd position in the final standing.

In women's doubles Jwala and Ashwini defeated their Singaporean opponents in straight games to won Gold medal ... From start they managed to keep pressure on their opponents to complete win 21-16 21-19.

Reaching final India already secured their first medal in hockey in CWG ... But today Australian gave very tough and hard lesson to our team ... They scored 4 goals each in both half to handed worst ever defeat to Indian team ... Feeling really sorry for our Indian team as in other matches they performed lot better.

In table tennis we won 2 Bronze medals ... Sharath Kamal Achanta won Bronze beating his teammate Soumyadeep Roy in straight sets, 11-8 11-5 12-1011-9 ... Earlier Mouma Das and Poulomi Ghatak won their Bronze medal match comfortably against Australian pair in 12 mins, 11-4 11-7 11-1.

In table tennis, Achanta Sharath Kamal and Subhajit Saha lost in mens singles semi-final but they r in doubles final beating British pair saving match point from 1-2 down ... In tennis, ladies final Sania lost against top-seed Anastasia Rodionova in 3 tight set, 36 62 67(3), Sania saved 4 match points but in tie-break Rodionova was too strong ... In mens doubles senior pair of Lee and Mahesh defeated Rohan and Somdev to won Bronze medal, 63 76(4) ... In doubles Sania and Rushmi lost against top-seed Aussie pair 46 46, now they will face another Indian pair Poojashree and Nirupama Sanjeev for Bronze medal match.

In hockey our men scored unimpressive win over Scotland, 4-0 ... We needed big win in this match to improve our goal average but our striker failed ... Dharamvir Singh scored 2 goals, Sarwanjit Singh scored one and Dhanjay Mahadik scored one on penalty corner ... At XIX Commonwealth Games 2010, New Delhi

Today India won 6 Gold, 5 Silver and 3 Bronze medals ... We still manage to hold 2nd position with 20 Gold, 16 Silver and 12 Bronze Medal.

Again our shooters won 3 Gold medals ... Gagan won his 3rd Gold medal, Vijay Kumar and Omkar Singh won their 2nd Gold medal.

In Archery women managed to win Recurve Team Gold medal but our WR #1 Men lost against Aussie in semis so they ende winning only Bronze.

Ashish Kumar created history in Gymnastic winning Silver medal in Vault event.

Our Women Hockey our team defeated Trinidad and Tobago 7-0 in Pool A match.

Our boxers moved into quarters with comfortable win.

In tennis Somdev and Sania r in singles final in contrasting wins ... In the final Sania is facing top-seed Australain Anastasia Rodionova and Somi is facing Australian 5th seed Greg Jones ... At XIX Commonwealth Games 2010, New Delhi

On 4th day we won 3 Gold, 3 Silver and 4 Bronze medals ... So now we managed to hold 2nd place on medals tally by thin margin, our tally in 14 Gold, 11 Silver and 9 Bronze medals.

Today in shooting we managed to win 2 Gold medals, which Vijay Kumar and Gurpreet Singh won scoring game record in Pairs 25M Rapid Fire pistol, Gurpreet Singh won his second Gold medal with another game record with Omkar Singh in Pairs 10 m Air Pistol ... But Ronjan Sodhi disappointed winning only Silver though he had good final round after poor qualifying, where he qualify on 5th position with 139 hits ... Most disappointing performance in shooting came from Tejaswini Sawant in 50 m Rifle 3 Positions Women, who failed to qualify for the final ... Lajjakumari Gauswami qualified for the final but finished on 6th position.

In Women's Freestyle only Geeta won Gold medal, we had one Silver and Bronze.

In Archery compound team event our men won Silver as they lost against England in the final and women managed to win Bronze beating Malaysian team.

Ashish Kumar created history becoming first Indian to win any medal in big international event in Gymnastics ... He won Bronze medal in Gymnastics Artistic Floor Exercise event.

In Badminton India team reached in the final beating England 3-0 in the semis after beating Canada 3-0 in quarter-final ... In the final we r facing top-seed Malaysia.

In table-tennis our men and women teams r in the final ... In the women final we r facing top-seed Singapore.

In tennis Somdev and Sania r in singles semis with straight sets victory ... Both will face Aussie opponent in semis ... In mens doubles top-ssed Mahesh and Lee had tough 3 set match, where last 2 sets went to tie-breaks, to reach semis ... Somi and Rohan joined them with straight sets victory ... Rushmi lost in singles quarter-final but in doubles she is in semis with Sania, they will face top-seed Aussie pair ... Poojashree and Nirupama Sanjeev r also in semis, they upset 2nd seed British pair in straight sets, now they will face 3rd seed Aussie pair in the semis ... In mixed doubles we faced shocking defeat of Gold medal hopeful Lee and Sania against unseeded Scottish pair Colin Fleming and Jocelyn Rae in quarters.

Our boxers contined with their good run moving into next round comfortably in their respective categories.

In swimming our 7 swimmers r in the semis.

Our hockey team lost poorly against World champion Australia ... Our defence was struggling and Bharat Chetri also had a bad day in goal keeping.

Rajender Kumar comfortably won Gold medal in 55 kg greco-roman ... Manoj Kumar lost final against Nigerian wrestler in 84 kg greco-roman ... Sunil Kumar only managed to win Bronze in 66 kg greco-roman ... Dharmender Dalal also lost in semis against Australian wrestler in 120 kg greco-roman but comfortably win Bronze medal match against Cyprus wrestler.

Our three shooters won 3 Gold medals and 3 Silvers ... Gagan Narang continued with his good form scoring perfect 600 pts in qualifying to again equalled the World record and his 5 points lead over Abhinav was enough to won Gold ... Anisa Sayyed made comeback after falling behind in Precision to win Gold medal and then Rahi Sarnobat made comeback in final round to beat Malaysian shooter to win Silver ... Omkar Singh also scored comeback win in the final round after falling behind in preliminary round to win Gold ... Ranjan Sodhi was off target in second round and that cost us Gold medal in Pairs Double Trap, where we lost to England by shooting 1 less clay bird.

In 58KG weightlifting Renu Bala comfortably won Gold medal.

In swimming Prasanta Karmakar won bronze medal in para sport 50m freestyle ... Indian men's team finished 7th in final of the 4x200m freestyle relay with timing of 7:46.18s ... Virdhawal Khade finished on 7th position with 24.61s in 50m Butterfly Men Finals ... But Virdhawal failed to qualify for final in 100m freestyle when his timing was 10th best in semi-finals.

In Badminton our team reached in quarter-final in mix-event keeping clean slate.

In tennis Somi and Sania reached in quarter-final with comfortable win but Rohan lost against 2nd seed Aussie Peter Luczak 26 67(5) ... Rushmi Chakravarthi scored upset win over British 3rd seed Katie O'Brien, 16 76 75, in comeback win to moved into quarters ... In swimming first time our team reached final of any international event in 4 x 100m Freestyle Relay Men ... They finished on 6th position ... On second day Virdhawal Khade qualified for 50m Butterfly Men final finishing on 4th place with 24.38 sec timing.

This loss cost us finish in final ranking matches as we ended up on last place in the group.

Yuki got a very tough lesson of playing on the professional tour by Ferrer.

Yuki started positively breaking Ferrer's serve in 2ng game to take 2-0 lead but after that Ferrer won next 6 games breaking Yuki's serve thrice to won first set30 mins ... In second set in few minutes Ferrer was up 0-5 ... But Yuki broke Ferrer's serve when he was serving for the match and avoided same fate which he delivered to Malaysian wild-card player Yew-Ming Si in the first round, after winning first 2 games lost next 12 games ... Yuki lost match in 59 minutes ... But good to see he showed some fight-back after down 0-5 in the second set.

Brands and Dodig kept pressure on our seasoned pair from the start ... After winning first set in tie-break in second set they had couple of break points on Mahesh's serve in 9th game but Mahesh managed to save them and in tie-break our pair fought back from 3-5 down to won it ... But in super tie-break Brands and Dodig proved too strong for this veteran pair.

Frankly speaking Brands and Dodig outplayed our pair winning 91 pts to 80 pts ... They had 12 break point chances and converted 1, other hand our pair had 5 and converted 1 ... Aces also Brands and Dodig hit more, 11 aces in comparison of our pair his 6 aces.

In second set also Bachinger got first chance in 5th game but Somi saved break point to hold his serve ... Then in 6th game Somi had a break point but he failed to convert ... Bachinger broke Somi's serve in 7th game but immediately Somi broke Bachinger in next game to make it 4-all ... Then both hold to take second set in tie-break ... Bachinger take early lead with mini-break, 1-3 ... But Somi fought back to take tie-break with couple of mini-break to make it 1 set-all.
