At XIX Commonwealth Games 2010, New Delhi
On last day India won 2 Gold, 1 Silver and 2 Bronze medals to finish their medal tally for CWG 2010 to 38 Gold, 27 Silver and 36 Bronze medals.
Due to 2 Gold medals India finished Second behind Australia in final standing, pushing England to thrid place ... This is India's best finish in Commonwealth Games and first time Indian contingent won total more than 100 medals in this event ... Well done guys.
In last event of the day Saina scored exciting comeback win over her 2nd seed Malaysian opponent to secure Gold medal ... After losing first game she was down 20-21 ... She saved that Gold medal point and then won next 3 points to make it 1 game all ... In decider she take control from the start to win Gold medal, 19-21 23-21 21-13 ... Saina's Gold medal secured our 2nd position in the final standing.
In women's doubles Jwala and Ashwini defeated their Singaporean opponents in straight games to won Gold medal ... From start they managed to keep pressure on their opponents to complete win 21-16 21-19.
Reaching final India already secured their first medal in hockey in CWG ... But today Australian gave very tough and hard lesson to our team ... They scored 4 goals each in both half to handed worst ever defeat to Indian team ... Feeling really sorry for our Indian team as in other matches they performed lot better.
In table tennis we won 2 Bronze medals ... Sharath Kamal Achanta won Bronze beating his teammate Soumyadeep Roy in straight sets, 11-8 11-5 12-1011-9 ... Earlier Mouma Das and Poulomi Ghatak won their Bronze medal match comfortably against Australian pair in 12 mins, 11-4 11-7 11-1.
