Somi moved into quarters of singles but top seed pair of Somi and Huey lost against Austin Krajicek and Conor Pollock in doubles second round ... So it was mix day for Somi.

With this singles win Somi becomes the first player to reach the NCAA Singles quarterfinals in three consecutive years, Jose Luis Noriega of San Diego (1990-92) and Stanford’s Dan Goldie (1984-86) r only other players to reach three consecutive quarterfinals since 1977 when the singles tournament was split from the team championship.

Georgia's 4th seed Travis Helgeson lost in Round of 16, so now only Somi is remaining in the draw from top-5 NCAA players.

Somdev Comments -
On the match…
“I thought I played pretty well today. Obliviously through this whole tournament my serving has been my strength and I have returned really well. I have been putting a lot of pressure on their return games, that was pretty much my game plan today.”

Talk about your possible opponents in the next round, Robert Farah or Denes Lukacs?
“Well I have played (Denes) Lukacs before. His game is very good and he is playing really well, he beat one of my teammates earlier. Robert (Farah) has had a great season also; he made the finals of Polo All-American the last time he was in Tulsa. They are both pretty tough opponents, I’m sure they are going to have a battle out there. I am ready for either one.”

Somdev Devvarman and Treat Hughey comments after doubles loss -
On the match…
Treat Hughey
“They played some great tennis. They deserve all the credit. They were serving real big today and they won the points that really turned the match. We were up a break in the first and they stepped up their game just a little. They got a couple breaks here or there and that’s just the way tennis goes. With that they took the momentum and played some great tennis.”
Somdev Davvarman
“They got a couple breaks to go their way and they took advantage of that. They started playing with momentum, I guess, and they served out the match pretty well.”
