Ankita fought back in the second to win it with a double break ... In the third, Rutuja started positively and was up 3-0, but again Ankita showed her fighting quality and made a comeback in the match ... In the tie-break, Ankita took a 5-2 lead, Rutuja tried hard to make it 5-all but Ankita kept her cool and completed victory after winning next two points ... In the second round, she is facing similar ranked Danka Kovinic, who scored an upset win over the 4th seed.
A tough loss for Pranjala as she was 5-2 and 5-3 up in the second set, just two points away from her biggest win ... After winning the first set Pranjala broke Kumkhum in the 4th game to lead 3-1 but failed to hold her serve in the next game, 3-2 ... Pranjala again broke Kumkhum in the 6th game, 4-2 and then held her serve to lead 5-2 ... In the 8th game she was 30-30 on Kumkhum's serve and while serving for the match she saved six break points but failed to hold ... After that, it was one-way traffic in favor of Kumkhum as Pranjala made a lot of unforced errors under pressure ... A big learning experience for Pranjala.
Karman failed to challenge the top-50 Zheng but managed to decent score.
