At US Open 2016, New York, USA
[Q3] (26) Saketh Myneni (IND,143) bt Pedja Krstin (SRB,200) 63 60
[R1] (Q) Saketh Myneni (IND,143) vs Jiri Vesely (CZE,48)
SAKI qualify for US open with dominating win against his Serbian opponent Pedja Krstin ... In the first set Saki broke Pedja in 3rd game but failed to hold his serve in next game ... But from 7th game onward everything changed ... Saki won next nine games in a row for amazing win ... Importantly his opponent wasn't injured but Saki was in superb form with his serves, backhand slice and powerful forehands ... His Serbian opponent Pedja Krstin failed to challenge him.
This is Saki's first main-draw appearance in any grand slam ... Ironically Saki becomes only 9th Indian player to make it in singles MD of grand slam in last two decades after Leander Paes, Mahesh Bhupathi, Nirupama Sanjeev, Somdev Devvarman, Yuki Bhambri, Sania Mirza, Shikha Uberai (though at that time Shikha participated under US flag) and Prakash Amitraj ... On usual Indian players luck Saki is having tough match against top-50 Jiri Vesely but what a heck, with his game Saki can surprise Vesely also ... Go Saki.
