At World Chess Championship, Bonn, Germany October 14 to 30, 2008

Viswanathan Anand (IND) vs Vladimir Kramnik (RUS) 6 - 3

Game 9 -
Viswanathan Anand (IND) - Vladimir Kramnik (RUS) ½-½

Anand showing well preparation for his title defence against Kramnik ... He surprised Kramnik with his switching from regular first move e4 to d4 ... With that he nullified about 50% of his opponent's opening preparation and with Black went for non-standard positions that do not match Kramnik's style.

Today again Anand started with d4 but this time Kramnik responded with Slav Defense ... Anand showed his preparation playing Rd1 11th move, this move is very rare ... But this time Kramnik was well prepared and was attack with his Bishops ... But Anand demonstrated stubborn defense ... So draw agreed after 45th move ... Kramnik missed his best opportunity up to now in this championship match ... Now Anand needs only half a point to defend his title.
