Chess News
At World Chess Championship, Bonn, Germany October 14 to 30, 2008

Viswanathan Anand becomes the only Champion to have won it in 3 (Knockout, Round-robin and now Match play) different formats!

Viswanathan Anand (IND) bt Vladimir Kramnik (RUS) 6½- 4½

Game 11 -
Viswanathan Anand (IND) - Vladimir Kramnik (RUS) ½-½

Anand need only ½ point to retain World Championship but in last 3 games Kramnik showed he has different plans.

Anand switches back to 1. e4 and faces a Sicilian (1. c5) ... So it is a Sicilian Najdorf, in this both players having their chances ... Anand has usually done well facing Najdorf as a White ... After 12 moves game look more drawish, I think Kramnik need to take chances with some novelty moves.

Edited - After 24 moves draw agreed ... In end Kramnik needed to fight hard for the draw with no winning chance ... So Viswanathan Anand effortlessly drew and deservedly defended his title of World Chess Champion.
