He finished the race with the timing of 8:21.37s, this was the new national record, but importantly, he has secured a place in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics as his timing was within the qualifying cutoff of 8:22.00 ... This was the 4th time in the last one year he’s broken the NR established by Gopal Saini in 1981 (8:30.88s).
