Sathiyan became only the 2nd Indian to reach the quarters of Asian Table Tennis Championships before him only Delhi's Sudhir Phadake reached in the quarters in 1976 tournament ... He lost the quarters against the WR #4 Chinese paddler, Gaoyuan Lin, in 4 games ... A young Manav Thakkar reached in the 4th round beating the top-40 Japanese paddler, Kazuhiro Yoshimura, in a close match.
Our girls failed to cross the third round ... Before that in the team event, our men's team finished at a creditable fifth position and the women's team finished on the 9th position.
