Anand continues with his dominance with white pieces ... He defeated Jon Ludvig Hammer after 36 moves in well constructed game ... Importantly Veselin Topalov lost to Anish Giri allowing Anand to move within half a point with a round to go ... In the final round Topalov has white against Anand.
So after 8 rounds standing is - Topalov 6 pts, Anand 5½ pts, Giri and Nakamura 5 pts, Caruana, Carlsen and Vachier-Lagrave 3½ pts, Aronian and Grischuk 3 pts, Hammer 2 pts,
