In men's singles terrific confident win by Kashyap against WR #11 Nguyen Tien Minh ... Kashyap defeated his Vietnamese opponent in 35 minutes dominating both games ... In pre-quarter final he is facing Sri Lankan Niluka Karunaratne.

Jwala and Diju ended their campaign with another loss ... So 0-3 win-loss record for them in this Olympics against their top 10 opponents ... But disappointing performance considering they failed to win a single game in three matches ... Jwala is still having chance in women's doubles to qualify for quarter-final with Ashwini.

Jwala and Ashwini scored straight games victory over higher ranked Singaporean pair ... After winning the first game after controlling from the start our pair was leading 9-0 and 11-1 in the second but after that they made numerous errors mainly by Jwala near the net ... Singaporean pair tried hard but difference was too much for them in the end ... Despite victory our pair mostly missing the place in quarter final on tie-break as they needed victory with 13 points difference but they managed to win by 11 points difference.

American archer Jacob Wukie produced perfect arrows hitting to beat Jayanta comfortably ... Chekrovolu Swuro missed chance as on the final arrow she required 9 point arrow to win this match but she managed only 6 ... In shoot-off both archers hit 9 points but American Jennifer Nichols arrow was closest.

Rahul Banerjee scored comfortable one-sided victory over Jantsan Gantugs in three straight sets ... But in the second round Rahul failed to produce consistent performance against Polish Rafal Dobrowolski ... In the first set both scored 28 ... Then in the second set Rahul's performance dip and Rafal take advantage to win it ... In the third set Rahul scored 29 to win it ... In the fourth Rafal scored 29 points and Rahul struggled ... In the fifth Rafal managed only 26 but Rahul scored only 25 to lose the set and match.

After poor performance by other archers Tarundeep Rai started on the back-foot ... After three sets he was down 1-5 but he fought back to win next 2 sets and take match into shoot-off ... In shoot-off Tarundeep hit 9 and Juan managed only 8 ... In pre-quarter final Tarundeep faced 2nd seed Korean Bubmin Kim ... In the first set Tarundeep was leading 18-17 after 2 arrows ... Kim scored 10 on the last and Tarundeep managed only 8 to lose this set ... Tarundeep never recovered from this lost opportunity ... In the second set Tarundeep scored 10, 9, 9 but Kim scored perfect 10 on all 3 arrows to win it ... Tarundeep won the third set when little lapse of concentration from Kim ... In the fourth Tarundeep managed 8, 8 in first 2 arrows but Kim managed again perfect 10 in his first 2 shots ... Tarundeep scored 10 on last arrow but 4 points deficit was far big as Kim scored 8 on the final arrow to win this match.

Japanese Yoshie Ueno easily defeated Garima Chaudhary by ippon in 1 minute 21 seconds with Kuzure-Kesa-Gatame hold.

Sawarn Singh finished on 4th position with 7:11.59 in Men's Single Sculls quarter final ... Conditions must be tough as all rowers struggled ... Only 10 rowers from 24 rowers managed to clocked below 7 minutes time with best time was from British rower, 6:52.10 ... Top 3 rowers were going to qualify for semis so Sawarn Singh missed that but he will participate in Semifinal C/D for 13 to 24 positions.

Devendro Singh scored very dominating win against Honduras boxer Bayron Molina Figueroa when refree stopped contest when 36 seconds were remaining of the first round ... Devendro Singh was attacking from the start ... Figueroa needed 2 standing count-down before refree stopped this one-sided bout ... Next he is facing experienced Mongolian boxer Serdamba Purevdorj, who is silver medalist from Beijing Olympics and he also won World championship in 2009 and bronze medal in 2011.

Manoj Kumar also scored convincing victory over Turkmenistan boxer ... In the first round both boxers played cautiously and the round ended 2-all ... In the second round Manoj Kumar was aggressive and won this round comfortably 7-3 ... After taking lead Manoj Kumar played the final round without taking much risk but still won it 4-2 ... Next he is having tough match against local boxer, Thomas Stalker

Shocking loss for our 7th seed pairing of Mahesh and Rohan against tricky French pair ... In the first set our pair wasted 5 break points and other hand French pair converted one from one to win it ... In the second set our pair broke early to lead 2-0 but French pair immediately broke back and then take important break in 9th game and then hold their serve to win this set (match).

Worst possible draw for Sania and Lee in mixed doubles ... They r in top draw, in the first round they r facing Serbian pair of Nenad Zimonjic and Ana Ivanovic ... And if they win this then they will face top-seed Max Mirnyi and Victoria Azarenka.

[R2] (7) Mahesh Bhupathi (IND)/ Rohan Bopanna (IND) vs Julien Benneteau (FRA)/ Richard Gasquet (FRA)

In Men's 10m Air Rifle event Gagan qualified for the final scoring 598 points ... He scored perfect 100 pts in 5 rounds and had lost 2 pts in the third ... He is currently 1 point behind two leaders ... But Abhinav missed final by 2 points in this high scoring event ... In the final round Abhinav needed 99 or better to qualify but he managed only 97 ... So last Olympics gold medalist failed to qualify for the final.

Gagan Narang won the BRONZE medal in Men's 10m Air Rifle ... With that Gagan Narang becomes India's 8th individual medalist at Olympics, following Khashaba Jhadev (1952 - Wrestling), Leander Paes (1996 - Tennis), Karnam Malleshwari (2000 - Weightlifting), Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore (2004 - Shooting), Abhinav Bindra (2008 -Shooting), Vijender Singh (2008 - Boxing) and Sushil Kumar (2008 - Wrestling) ... Very happy for Gagan, who is a talented shooter but before this failed to win an individual medal at the major games like Olympics and Asiad ... So deserving win ... In the final after 6 shots he was in the second position but his next two below 10 points shots drop him on fourth position ... But Gagan controlled his nerve and produced next shot over 10 and 10.7 last shot to win the Bronze ... He missed Silver by 0.4 points.

Bombayla Devi Laishram had tough time against Greece archer but she moved into the second round ... After losing first set Bombayla Devi won next two ... In the fourth Bombayla Devi's first arrow was 4 points but she recovered scoring 9 and 10 in next two arrows ... Other hand Greece archer failed to take advantage so both archers shared 1 point after 23-23 ... The last set also ended with 25-25 and Bombayla Devi won this match with one point.

Bombayla Devi was struggling in the first match and same happened against Mexical archer Aida Roman in the second round ... Aida take full advantage of inconsistency of Bombayla Devi and scored comfortable win ... Aida won the first and the third set ... Bombayla Devi won the second set but in the fourth set Bombayla Devi missed target by her 1st arrow scoring zero points ... Shocking.

In tennis, Blaz Kavcic broke Vishnu early and kept the advantage ... At 3-5 while serving for staying in the set Vishnu again failed to hold his serve and lost the first set ... In the second set also Blaz controlled the game and broke Vishnu twice to win this match.

Belarus pair gave tough time to Rohan and Mahesh, who won this tight match in 2 hours and 26 minutes ... Mahesh and Rohan won the first set in tie-break but lost the second set in tie-break with same score ... In the final set our pair take crucial break in 13th game to win this match ... In the second round they r facing tricky French pair of Benneteau and Gasquet.

Lee started his Olympics doubles medal quest with a new partner, Vishnu Vardhan ... They won the first set after dominating tie-break ... In the second set both pairs had multiple breaks before Dutch pair take crucial break in 9th game and our pair failed to convert break point in next game to lost it ... In the decider our pair broke their Dutch opponent int 6th and 8th games to win it comfortably ... This was Vishnu's first win at Olympics ... Next they r facing tough challenge of 2nd seed French pair Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Michael Llodra.

In boxing Sumit Sangwan failed to play his game due to quick footwork by Brazilian Yamaguchi Falcao Florentino ... Brazilian Yamaguchi scored important points when matters ... He won the first 2 rounds with identical 5-4 score ... In the final round Sumit tried hard after falling behind 2 points but he managed to win 6-5 and lost bout by 1 point ... From my point of view this looked controversial decision considering Sumit dominated second round with scoring punches and still lost that round 4-5 ... tough luck for the kid.

In hockey, Dutch side were better on the field in the first half and they take lead through field goal in 20th minute ... They doubled their lead in 29th minute converting 1st penalty corner and were leading 2-0 at half-time ... But in the second half Indians came back firing their all cylinders ... We scored 2 field goals in 5 minutes to make it 2-all but Dutch side converted their second penalty corner to regained lead ... Then they defended well to complete the victory ... Dutch side converted both penalty corners but we failed to convert from our two penalty corners.

Saina scored another comfortable win in 24 minutes against Belgian Lianne Tan to win Group E ... Saina dominated the first game to win it in 9 minutes ... Lianne Tan gave little fight in the second but Saina was too good for her.

Ashwini and Jwala scored hard fought win over WR #10 Taipei pair ... Our pair needed extra points to win the first game ... Taipei pair fought back in the second game to win it lot easily ... In the decider both pairs gave their full but our pair won important points to complete victory and also keep their hope of qualifying for quarter-final from the group.

This time India is sending their biggest ever contingent of 81 athletes to the Olympics ... I m really hoping that we will better our the Beijing Olympics medal haul of 3 medals (1 Gold and 2 Bronze) ... As per my calculation we r having chance of winning minimum 6 medals (and optimistic view is 10 medals) -
Archery 1 (here we can surprise to win couple of more considering our performance in World cups but realistically we should win at least 1 medal)
Boxing 2 minimum (we r having chance of winning more medals if our boxers get favorable draw but hoping at least 1 medal from men's and 1 from Mary Kom)
Shooting 1 (here also we r having good opportunity of winning more medals ... Abhinav Bindra is the best bet but we should not forget our other shooters like Gagan Narang, Ronjan Sodhi and Manavjit Singh Sandhu)
Wrestling 1 (here also Sushil Kumar is the best bet as he knows what require to win the medal in this mega event but with good draw young Amit Kumar can give us pleasant surprise)
Badminton/Tennis 1 (at least 1 but Saina having good draw to win her first Olympics medal ... In tennis, mixed doubles pair having realistic chance with little luck in a draw)
