Indians rowers gave roaring start for India on 7th day ... Indian rowers won 3 medals ... As expected before Asian games bigins, Bajrang Lal Takhar won Gold medal in Men's Single Sculls ... In Men's eight final our team of Anil Kumar, Girraj Singh, Saji Thomas, Lokesh Kumar, Manjeet Singh, Rajesh Kumar Yadav, Ranjit Singh, Satish Joshi and Jenil Krishnan won Silver behind Chinese team ... Indian women also won Bronze medal in Women's Pair Final in close fight with Indonasian pair.
In shooting Mens Trap team event Manavjit Singh Sandhu scored perfect 25 on last round that helped us to win Bronze beating host China by a point ... But in individual final Manavjit couldn't repeat same performance and managed only 17 hits from 25 ... That put him tied for 3rd place but he missed shot on shoot-off to ended on 5th position.
In boxing Men's 60kg category young Viskas Krishan scored another convincing win over Turkmenistan boxer Amangeldi 8-1 to moved into quarter-final ... In Men's 81kg category Dinesh Kumar scored comfortable win over Korean Jinho Heo to moved into semi-final ... So another medal is assured in boxing ... Dinesh Kumar controlled this match from the start, he was leading 8-4 after second round ... In boxing 64kg category another young boxer 19 yrs old Santosh Kumar showed good technique against Malaysian Azmi Akyazlan to moved into quarter final, he won bout 6-1.
In tennis 2nd seed Somdev and 7th seed Karan scored thumping victories ... Both gave double bagel to their respective opponents ... And Sania produced upset win over local 6th seed Shuai Zhang in one-sided match, 62 62 ... So with this win over #91 player Sania is in quarter-final where she meet 2nd seed and #58 experienced Thai player Tamarine Tanasugarn ... In mens doubles 6th seed pair of Sanam and Somi moved into R16 with 64 62 victory ... But Karan and Vishnu lost in STB against Korean pair 61 36 2-10 ... Nirupama and Tara Iyer lost against seeded Chinese pair 46 57 in womens doubles ... In mixed doubles 6th seed pair of Sania and Vishnu turned around defeat into win in tight STB against local Chinese pair of Yan Bai and Shengnan Sun 63 46 12-10 ... In quarter final they r facing 4th seed Chinese Taipei pair of Chia Jung Chuang and Chu-Huan Yi ... Other hand Sanam and Rushmi lost to 7th seed Japanese pair 46 63 3-10.
Our mens volleyball scored very important win over 7 times Asian champion Japan in quarter-final group stage ... Indians started well and won first 2 sets convincingly ... After losing 3rd set they choked up in 4th set to waste 3 match points before losing 4th set ... In decider Indians kept their nerve at important points and made comeback from 4-8 down to complete important victory which will help them to get higher seedings in quarter-final knockout stage ... We defeated Japan 3-2, 25-20 25-19 21-25 26-28 15-13.
In women archery top 3 archers broke previous Asian games record in qualifying and team event Korea bettered their own game record ... In individual standing in top 5 r Korean archers but on 3rd position is North Korean archer ... Deepika Kumari qualified for 7th position, otherwise disappointing standing for our other archers ... Rimil Buriuly on 18th position ... Bombayla Devi Laishram and Dola Banerjee qualified on 28th and 29th position respectively.
In Golf we had poor outing ... Our all 3 golfers scored +2 score ... So currently India is on 4th position with +10 but 5 strokes behind 3rd place Thailand ... In individual round Rashid Khan is also slipped to 4th position ... He is 3 under and 2 stroke behind Thai player.
In womens hockey we thrashed Thailand team 13-0 to scored one of our biggest victory.
In squash higher ranked Saurav Ghosal defeated Siddharth Suchde in straight sets 11-6 11-6 11-7 to moved into semis ... In the semis he is facing top-seed Malaysian Mohamad Azlan Iskandar ... Dipika lost to Malaysian WR # 1 Nicole David, 8-11 11-7 6-11 4-11 and Joshana lost after winning first 2 sets against Malaysian Wee Wern Low, 11-7 11-9 8-11 9-11 3-11.
In chess team events our men team is on top spot after 2 rounds with 7.5 pts and women team event we r on 3rd place with 6 pts ... Too early to say anything about the medals.
In womens volleyball we comfortably defeated Maldives 3-0, 25-6 25-7 25-6.
In snooker singles Aditya Mehta reached into semis scoring hard fought win over Singapore's Boon Chin Ang 4-3, 70-13 0-79 74-8 58-71 54-77 72-8 85-39 ... In semis he is facing Hong Kong player Ka Chun Marco Fu ... Before this Aditya scored victory over Chinese Taipei's player Yu-Lun Wu 4-2 to moved into quarter-final, 67-39 49-69 74-42 16-69 72-0 69-37 ... But Pankaj Advani lost against top Chinese player Junhui Ding 1-4, 100-11 0-86 84-1 88-0 105-7.

Now we r having 16 medals; 1 Gold, 7 Silver and 8 Bronze ... We r still outside of top-10 medals winning nations.
Today in the morning we won 2 Silvers in the rowing ... Our Men's Four team - Anil Kumar, Saji Thomas, Ranjit Singh and Jenil Krishnan - finished second behind Chinese rowers ... In Lightweight Men's Four event our team - Lokesh Kumar, Manjeet Singh, Rajesh Kumar and Satish Joshi - finished second behind Japanese team .. They hold big challenge from Hong Kong team to won Silver.
In shooting Vijay Kumar won a Bronze medal in the men's 25 metre Center Fire Pistol final with with 583 and Omkar Singh finished on 8th with 580... Gagan finished 4th in the final of the men's 50 metre Rifles 3-Position final, his 8th shot of 8.3 pts cost him Bronze medal by 0.5 pts ... Men's trap team finished on 5th position with a total of 201 after the end of day one and in that Manavjit Singh Sandhu finished 5th with a score of 70.
In boxing in the men's +91 kg category Paramjeet Samota scored victory over experienced South Korean Park Sung ... Park Sung got disqualified after recieving 3 penalties when Samota was leading 9-4 in second round ... So with that Samota assured our first medal of boxing ... Suranjoy Singh moved to quarter final beating former junior world champion Korean Juseong 8-6 ... After 2 rounds Suranjoy was up 4-1 but in last round Korean made excellent comeback to win round 4-5 but Suranjoy managed to hold his attack to won this bout ... In mens 46-49kg category Amandeep Singh won his bout to moved into R16 when referee stopped bout after third countdown when he was leading 9-0 against Saudi Arabian boxer Fahad ... Next Amandeep is facing Pakistani boxer Mohammad Waseem ... In 56 kg category Chottelal Yadav lost against Japanese boxer Satoshi 4-7 after leading 2-1 after first round.
In golf Indian team made superb comeback ... Yesterday Abhijit Singh Chadha disqualified so his score was missing but on second day he scored 1 under ... Abhinav Lohan scored 2 under round and our Rashid Khan scored 4 under with 7 birdies and 3 bogeys ... So with 7 under second round Indian team moved to 3rd position 1 stroke behind Philippines with 4 over ... In individual ranking also Rashid Khan moved to 3rd position with 5 under.
In judo P. Anand's lost his quarter-final against Nabil Hassan of Jordan, 3-5 ... Latika Bhadari lost to a Thai, 0-6 ... Shantibala Devi also lost to a Chinese player, 0-13 ... And our challenge got over in judo with loss of Sandeep Kundu against Uzbek Akmal Irgashev in one-sided quarter final, 18-4.
In tennis Sania started with comfortable win, 61 60 ... Poojashree lost against 7th seed Kai Chen Chan, 26 26 ... In mixed doubles, Sanam & Rushmi win 75 63 in first round, next they r facing 6th seeds Japanese pair Hiroki Kondo & Yurika Sema in R16 ... 6th seeds Sania Mirza & Vishnu Vardhan will face local pair of Yan Bai & Sun Shengnan.
In womens squash our both girls had winning start ... Dipika Pallikkal defeated Chinese Jinye Gu, 11-4 12-10 11-1 ... Joshna Chinnappa defeated Philipino Jemyca Aribado, 11-6 11-7 11-4 ... Both having very tough round in second round, Dipika is facing WR #1 Malaysian Nicol David and Joshna is facing another Malaysian Wee Wern Low.
In mens squash Saurav Ghosal started with win against Kuwaiti player Ammar Altemimi, 11-4 11-4 11-5 ... Siddharth Suchde also started with win over Hong Kong player Siu Wai Dick Lau, 9-11 11-4 11-6 11-4 ... Now Saurav and Siddharth will face each other in quarter-final for place in the semis ... So another medal is sure this time in squash.

In badminton 4th seed Jwala and Diju lost against South Korean pair Shin and Lee in 3 games, 21-17 13-21 16-21 ... In singles Arvind Bhat lost against Boonsak Ponsana 19-21 12-21 ... Shocking defeat of Saina our genuine medal hope ... Feeling sad to see this result ... Saina lost first game against Hong Kong player cheaply but made strong comeback winning second game easily ... In decider Pui Yin Yip played smart game to complete upset win, 8-21 21-8 19-21.
In table tennis doubles Sharath Kamal and Saha lost against South Korean pair in R16 ... In singles Sharath Kamal lost against Sang Eun and Amalraj lost against to Chih Yuan ... Shamini Kumaresan lost against Japanese Sayaka Hirano.
In women volleyball North Korean ream defeated Indian women in straight sets.
India finished on 6th position in 4 x 100 medley, Japan won gold after Chinese team got disqualify.

Not a productive day for Indians ... Managed to win only couple of medals and both in Wushu ... In 60 kg women category Sandhyarani Devi Wangkhem lost in the final against Iranian Wushu player Khadijeh Azadpour ... In 60 kg men category Bimoljit Singh Mayanglambam won Bronze after his yesterday's loss in the semi-final.
In mens hockey we comfortably defeated Bangladesh 9-0, Sandeep Singh scored 4 goals in the match but other hand Pakistan also scored more dominating victory over Hong Kong, 12-0 ... Our next crucial pool match is against Pakistan ... But Indian women lost 0-1 in crucial match against Korea.

Vishnu and Aparna lost in MXD against Japanese pair after winning first game.
In women waterpolo we also lost our final round-robin match to Uzbekistan 2-20.

At 2010 Asian Games, Guangzhou, China
India having 11 medals, 1 Gold, 4 Silver and 6 Bronze.
Virdhawal Khade created history winning first swimming medal in 24 yrs ... In 50m Butterfly he won Bronze medal with timing 24.31 ... In the morning he won heat with timing 24.56, which was 5th best in final qualifiers ... So after his unsuccessful bid in yesterday's 50m Freestyle where he missed Bronze by 0.03 sec he managed to win his first big medal.
Another creditable performance by Ashish Kumar in Men's Floor Final to won Bronze ... This is our FIRST medal in gymanastic ... He had very tough challenge from other top Asian gymnasts, still he produced creditable performance to upset other Chinese, Korean and Japanese opponents to won Bronze ... Interestingly in this event they gave 2 Gold medals as 2 gymnasts points tally were same and a Bronze.
Only Harika managed to win Bronze medal in chess, in last round Harika needed victory to won Bronze medal ... In the final round with blacks she defeated Indonesian player Sukandar Irine Kharisma and grabbed Bronze ... Tania Sachdev finished on 6th with 5.5 pts ... At 2010 Asian Games, Guangzhou, China
Today very so-so day as we failed to win a single medal in shooting ... In snooker team event we won Silver ... In semis we defeated Pakistani team 3-0 but we lost final against Chinese team 1-3, only Aditya won his match.
In tennis we lost semi-final 1-2 against top-seed Chinese Taipei team ... In my view this loss was due to poor team selection from our captain Mr. Nandan Bal ... In first single he decided to play Sanam Singh over Karan Rastogi, who was in good form ... But Sanam gave his full efforts in singles though lost in 3 sets against young Tsung Hua Yang ... Somi won his match in straight sets against Ti Chen as WR #35 Yen-Hsun Lu was unavailable due to injury ... Then Nandan decided to play Sanam with Somi in final doubles rubber, who was tired after playing long match and also taken medical injury break in late of third set instead of playing fresh legs of Karan and Vishnu, Somi and Sanam lost in straight sets to blown up our chance of making final ... So our team need to remain happy with Bronze.
For me best performance of the day came from our young 19 yrs old swimmer Virdhawal Khade ... Who qualified for the Men's 50m Freestyle Final with 5th best timing in the heat, 22.98 secs ... In the final he finished on 4th position with 22.87 secs timing, he missed bronze medal by mere 0.03 sec ... Very positive performance from him.
Our 2 Wushu players are in medal round in mens and womens 60 kg category ... Doha's Bronze medal winner Bimoljit Singh Mayanglambam is in semis and facing Iranian Mohsen Mohammadseifi ... Sandhyarani Devi Wangkhem is playing against Laos player Paloy Barckkham in semis.
Our best hope in weightlifting,Ravi Kumar Katulu finished 5th in 69 kg category ... He lifted total 311 kg weight, 10 kg less than bronze medal winner Indonesian lifter.
Mens hockey team started with win, they won 7-0 against Hong Kong team ... We should won that match by more than 10 goals margin.
In volleyball Korea defeated us convincingly , 3-0 (25-19 25-20 25-19) .. Frankly after watching scratchy performance against Kazakhstan I was expected this ... We need to improve our overall performance to fight in place for semis ... Again our blocking and defence was poor.

At last Mahesh and Max managed to lift title in 2010 and that is also Masters title ... In the final they defeated unseeded giant-killers Knowles and Ram.
In the first set they take important break in 12th game to won this set ... They didn't face any break point on their serve ... But in second set Mahesh lost his serve in 3rd game, they immediatly broke Knowles's serve in next game to make it 2-all ... In 12th game they again broke Knowles's serve, after leading 0-40 they needed 4 match point before completing victory ... So this was their first title of 2010 after playing five finals.
Mahesh Bhupathi - "Coming into this week it was a bit of a dog fight [to qualify for the Finals], but with the way we played we won and now I think we will go in as the No. 3 seeds. So we’re hopefully going to have a good showing there and finish the year strong."
“We’ve been playing well. We reached the final in Valencia and put ourselves in a position to win again today," said Bhupathi. "It was very frustrating not to win a title before now, we’d been playing well in the Masters 1000 [tournaments], but if you keep putting yourself in the position you’re going to eventually win. It’s been 12 years since I last won [the Paris-Bercy title] and I’m happy to be out here so long."

Alok Kumar lost aginst Po-Cheng Kuo in semi-final of Men's 8-Ball Pool Singles, so he will settle with Bronze ... Snooker team consisting Yasin Merchant, Brajesh Damani and Aditya mehta moved into semis beating Chinese Taipei team 3-1 in quarter-final ... Tomorrow they will face Pakistani team to place in the final.

Our mens volleyball team had shaky start ... Before this they defeated Kazakhstan in straight 3 sets but here they lost first set 24-26 ... In second set also our team was struggling near net, their blocking was poor and making errors on serving ... Managed to lift game on crucial stage to won second set 25-23 ... In third set they played very improved game and controlled from the start to won 25-18 ... In fourth set Kazak players started with spirited game and were taking early lead ... But turning point of the set came when we were 10-15 down then we won 9 points on a row when Gurinder Singh was serving and that turned this set in our favor ... We won this set 25-21 and match in 1 hrs and 41 mins ... Tomorrow we r having crucial match against Doha Gold medalist South Korea.
So now we r having 1 Gold, 3 Silver and 1 Bronze medals.

Otherwise we had poor day as in Men's 50m Pistol Team we ended on 5th position, 1646 pts, they were 21 pts behind Bronze medal winner Japan ... In Women's 10m Air Rifle Team event w finished on 7th position with 1176 pts ... Omkar Singh finished on 7th position in individual Men's 50m Pistol event ... Abhinav Bindra failed to qualify for final in individual event.

Was hoping win but it looks from report Somi struggled against big serves from Guccione ... But I m sure he will work on his short-coming in break and we will see much stronger Somi against these so called 'taller players' in next season.
I double he and Treat r semis with hard fought win against qualifiers ... In semis they r having cracker match against American opponents.

In this match Rohan and Aisam had 7 break oints but failed to convert one, other hand Spaniards had 3 break points and converted all ... They need to work on that aspects as if we check their last few matches stats it show they created many break point opportunities but convert ratio was low ... So still not a great indoor season for them.

Ajay's good run ended in quarters against top-10 Thai opponent ... Somewhat one-sided loss for Ajay though productive week for him as this was his first Super Series quarter-final.

Superb win by Ajay to reached his first Super Series quarter-final ... After winning tight first game Ajay lost second game easily but in decider he take control of the game from 7-all to complete his victory in 52 mins ... Next he is facing WR #8 Thai Boonsak Ponsana, who lost against Kashyap in the last week.
By the way Arjun climb to his career best singles ranking, #40.
