First time our two men and two women players qualifying for Olympics in table tennis ... This is full quota as per Olympic rules only two men and two women per country can participate ... Soumyajit Ghosh in men's singles and Manika Batra in women's singles won stage I (South Asia Zone) of Asian Qualifiers ... Achantha Sharat Kamal made it to Rio by winning second stage of the Asian qualifiers beating Iranian paddler ... Achantha played this tournament with back injury so creditable performance as he missed opportunity of participation in 2012 London Olympic ... Mouma Das lost in the final round for a qualifying round but qualify after winning third place play-off against Uzbek paddler.

Our both table tennis teams create history after winning second division title for qualifying World Championship Division.

In the final our men's team missed Achanta Sharath Kamal due to injury but Harmeet Desai raised to occasion to help team for winning the title ... Brazil took early lead after winning first match, Soumyajit lost in straight games against Hugo Calderano ... In second match Harmeet Desai scored comeback win over Brazilian Cazuo Matsumoto from 1-2 games down ... Brazil won third match when Thiago Monteiro defeated Amalraj in five games ... In crucial match Soumyajit defeated Matsumoto in straight games ... In deciding rubber Harmeet defeated Hugo Calderano in four games for famous victory ... So in this tournament our men lose only one match in group stage against Nigeria and they took revenge beating same Nigerian team in knock-out stage.

Our women's team scored 3-1 victory over Luxembourg ... In the first match Mouma Das started with straight games win over Konsbruck ... In the second match Manika Batra defeated Gonderinger in four games ... Luxembourg came back winning third match when Sarah De Nutte defeated Shamini Kumaresan in straight games ... But Manika Batra kept her cool winning fourth match against Konsbruck in straight games and completed victory for Indian women ... So our women remain undefeated as this was their 8th win in 8 matches.

Our table tennis teams create history as both teams achieve promotion to next edition World Championship of Division 1 at Sweden.

Our men's team faced loss against Nigeria in group stage, so due to that loss they finished on 2nd position ... In Knock-out our players won first match against Hungary ... In their second match they faced Nigeria again but this time our team manged to turn table on them ... And in most important match against Egypt our team raised their games for winning it against Egypt, 3-1 ... Now for the top spot of 2nd Edition our men will be playing against Brazil.

Our women's team dominated group stage winning their all matches and in knock-out they received bye and in 2nd match again defeated Puerto Rico 3-1 ... And then in most important match for promotion our girls beat higher ranked Serbian team in comeback win ... Our team were 0-2 matches down but showed terrific resilient for winning next three matches and securing promotion for Division 1 ... For top spot they r facing Luxembourg girls.
