The Swedish girls clinched victory in the final of the U17 Women's Football Tournament 2019 with a 4-0 win against hosts India ... Inside the first 20 minutes, Sweden took 3-0 lead, but after that, our girls gave a spirited performance ... But they failed to score and Sweden added the 4th goal.

In the final, we are facing a big challenge of the u-17 Swedish girls, who reached final after winning both matches ... They defeated us 3-0 in the first match and Thai girls 3-1 in their second match.

We lost 0-1 against a better Oman-side ... The superior Oman-side was looking threatening from the start ... Muhsen won the penalty after Bheke fouled him inside the box in the 6th minute, but he hit over the cross-bar ... But Oman-side deservingly took a lead in the 32nd minute when Muhsen scored ... After that, we tried but their defense was better and they also missed a lot of chances.

Our u-16 side played 1-1 draw against the host u-16 Uzbekistan side in their final group match to finish on top of Group B and qualify for the AFC U-16 Championship Bahrain 2020 to be held next year ... The Indian boys finished on 7 points from 3 matches - the same as Uzbekistan but qualified as group winners by virtue of better goal difference (+10) in comparison to Uzbekistan’s goal difference of +3 ... Indian boys had earlier beaten Turkmenistan u-16, and Bahrain u-16 by identical 5-0 margins ... This is India’s third consecutive entry to the AFC U-16 Championships, and 9th overall.

A historic and huge result for the young Indian team ... They managed to hold Asian Champion Qatarian side to a goalless draw ... Qatar was a better team on the field and they created multiple chances, Qatar had 27 shots on the goal but they failed to beat our custodian, Gurpreet Singh Sandhu, who was a man of the match performer ... So it was a gritty display from Indian defense and custodian to hold them.

India is in Group E with Qatar, Oman, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan ... India failed to score their first win against Oman as they faced heart-breaking loss ... The Indians took an early lead after taking advantage of sloppy defending by Oman ... Sunil scored his 72nd goal for India ... We kept lead till 83rd minute and was in position for scoring our first win over the Oman team ... But Oman equalized through Al Alawi and then in the 89tb minute scored another excellent goal through a powerful kick to give winning lead ... We failed to take chances in the first half and that cost us ... Next, India travel to 2022 World Cup hosts Qatar for their next encounter in the qualifiers on Tuesday.

A new-look Indian football team defeated hosts Thailand 1-0 to give our head coach Igor Stimac his first win and finish third in the King’s Cup tournament ... Stimac made wholesome changes, as eight changes from the starting eleven which lost to Curacao 1-3 in their previous match ... Stimac rested key players like Sunil Chhetri, Udanta Singh, and goalkeeper Gurpreet Singh Sandhu ... This was our 2nd win over Thai team in 6 months as we defeated them in AFC Cup in January.

In the first half, we committed too many defensive errors and that cost us the match ... In the second half, we showed improve performance and played a structured game to hold the Carribean side.

On the positive note, a Croatian Igor Stimac is appointed as the head coach of the men's national team on a 2 yrs. contract ... Stimac having a strong resume as a coach and as a player.

As a coach, Sitmac's major achievement was guiding Croatia to qualify for the FIFA World Cup Brazil 2014 ... As a player, he was part of the Croatia squad which finished 3rd in the FIFA World Cup France 1998 ... He was also a part of the Yugoslavia u-19 national team which won the FIFA u-20 World Cup in Chile 1987.

Myanmar drew the match with help from the hattrick from Win Tun ... The Indian girls took an early lead through Sandhiya, but the Myanmar team responded through 2 quick goals inside 5 minutes by Win Tun ... Our girls equalized through Sanju ... In the second half, we took lead through Ratanbala but our players failed to defend the lead and Win Tun completed hattrick in the 72nd minute ... After that, both teams failed to score ... We required to win for moving ahead to the next stage as Myanmar had a better goal difference ... So with this result, the Myanmar team moved to the next round and our young team was unlucky to go out on the goal difference.

A heartbreaking loss for the Blue Tigers as they conceded a last-minute penalty, throughout the match the Bahrain team was looking good but we defended well for 90 minutes ... But in added time, Pronay Halder committed a foul inside the box and Jamal scored from the penalty spot ... So with this loss, the Indians are coming back as Thailand drew with UAE and on a head to head matches, the Bahrain team will be the third place team ... In this match, Sunil Chhetri equaled Bhaichung Bhutia's record of highest appearances for the country at 107 each, but Sunil must be disappointed due to the final result.

The Indian head coach, Stephen Constantine, announced his resignation after the loss ... The AIFF has accepted his decision and thanks him for his all contribution.
